Previously a judge on American Idol, Simon Cowell brings his hit UK show X Factor to the US for the first time and starts his search for the next big singing star or stars (groups can also audition). Auditions take place in front of a live audition and the singers are judged by Cowell, ex-American Idol judge Paula Abdul, producer L.A. Reid and Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger who replaced UK singer Cheryl Cole after she was sacked as a judge by Cowell. Welsh TV Presenter Steve Jones will be presenting the show which runs until December when the winner will receive a $5 million recording contract with Epic Records. On tonight's show singing stars Rihanna, Enrique Inglesias and Pharrell are special guest judges.
